Approximately 1½ furlongs out, Thunderoad (GB), placed second, hung left-handed, carrying Debbonair (IRE), unplaced, off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Thunderoad (GB).
Just inside the half furlong marker, Thunderoad (GB), placed second, shifted left-handed whilst racing greenly, briefly hampering Lord Lamington (GB), placed fourth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Thunderoad (GB).
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Debbonair (IRE), during routine testing, revealed the gelding had lost its right fore shoe.
