Zip Pearl (IRE) had to be reshod having spread its left-fore shoe, causing a delay to the start of the race.
The apparent improvement in form of the winner, Mossing (GB), which had never previously been placed, was considered.
James Evans was interviewed.
His comments that the mare had appreciated the drop back in trip from 3 miles to 2 miles 3½ furlongs in what he considered a less competitive race on this occasion, and had further benefitted from the easier ground, which was officially described as Soft, were noted.
Mossing (GB) was routine tested.
The performance of Danger Money (GB), which started favourite and finished last of the four runners, was considered.
Donald McCain could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance other than Brian Hughes reporting that Danger Money (GB) had become unsettled and sweated up when the start of the race had been delayed; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding shortly after the race failed to reveal any abnormalities.
