An enquiry was held to consider why Charlie Mann was running The Lincoln Lawyer (GB) here at Huntingdon on going described as Good, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Huntingdon on 9 May 2019 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer’s representative stated that, in his opinion, the ground at Huntingdon last time was riding softer than Good.
An enquiry was held to consider why Neil King was running Petite Jack (GB) here at Huntingdon on going described as Good, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Bangor on 18 May 2019 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer’s representative stated that, in her opinion, the ground at Bangor had been rough and uneven and the ground here today would better suit Petite Jack (GB).
Following concerns raised by the riders at the start regarding the low sun obscuring their vision at the first hurdle in the back straight, the Stewards consulted with the Clerk of the Course and ordered that this obstacle should be by-passed for this race.
Following the race, Bryony Frost reported that Petite Jack (GB), placed fifth, was never travelling and hung left under pressure in the home straight.
Nico de Boinville reported that Northern Bound (IRE), which was pulled up, stopped quickly and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
