An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race following an objection from Eddie Edge, the rider of East End Girl (GB), placed second, to the winner Fiston De Becon (FR), ridden by Lewis Stones, on the grounds of interference approximately 1 furlong out.
Being a 7Ib Claiming Conditional, Edge was accompanied in the enquiry by the representative of Lucy Wadham.
Considering Fiston De Becon (FR) was always holding WEST END GIRL to win by 1¼ lengths, the Stewards therefore could not be satisfied that East End Girl (GB) would have finished in front of Fiston De Becon (FR) had the interference not occurred and therefore ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
The interference was found to be accidental in that Fiston De Becon (FR) shifted quickly left-handed before being swiftly corrected by Stones, carrying East End Girl (GB) marginally off its intended line.
