It was a bit disappointing the last day and he started to tie up a bit again today but I'm delighted he won. At Leopardstown it was on good ground and he'd have won six or eight lengths if the race was over two miles but I'll get him checked out just to make sure. I suppose it was tacky ground today, and I was worried about it coming here. My main thing now is to wait for better ground, and I'd imagine good ground is the key to him. Henry De Bromhead, trainer

B.M. Cash, rider of Rebel Ace trained by W.J. Burke, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left. The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Jimmyjames (GB), ridden by J.P. O'Sullivan, and trained by P.J. Rothwell. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. J.P. O'Sullivan, stated that his instructions were to to settle his mount towards the rear and get him to finish the race out well. He added that the horse ran freely and jumped big and deliberately. He also stated that the horse made a noise in the back straight. P.J. Rothwell, confirmed the instructions and stated that the horse can be very tricky in the preliminaries and difficult to settle. The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that Jimmyjames was post race normal. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered, however the rider was cautioned to be seen to be more forceful in future. He was also cautioned concerning his future responsibilities to report at the first instance, anything that may have affected the running of a horse.
