Permission was given for Sepahi (GB) and Impressionable (GB) to go early to post.
Approximately 2 furlongs out, RITA’S FOLLY, placed seventh, shifted quickly right away from the whip, taking Ecstasea (IRE), placed sixth, off its intended line and to be slightly checked, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The performance of RITA’S FOLLY, which started second favourite and finished seventh of eight, was considered.
Anthony Carson could offer no explanation for the filly’s performance.
The apparent improvement in form of the winner, Dutch Story (GB), which had never previously been placed, was considered.
Amanda Perrett’s representative was interviewed.
He explained that the yard appeared to be coming back into form and that the gelding benefitted from the first-time application of cheekpieces.
His comments were noted and Dutch Story (GB) was routine tested.
Following the race, Josephine Gordon reported that Ecstasea (IRE), placed sixth, was denied a clear run.
Liam Jones reported that Mallons Spirit (IRE), placed eighth, hung badly left and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities.
