Billy Garritty, the rider of Van Gerwen (GB), drawn 4, had appeared not to keep straight from the stalls.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, the rider was suspended for 1 day.
Approximately 1½ furlongs out, Mehmo (IRE), unplaced, hung sharply right-handed into the whip across the path of Idiopathic (GB), placed fifth, causing that runner to stumble, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Approaching 1 furlong out, Hot Scoop (GB), unplaced, was hampered when tightened up for racing room between Mehmo (IRE), unplaced, which hung right-handed at the time as the winner, Hey Mr (GB), edged slightly left-handed, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Hey Mr (GB).
Inside the final furlong, Mehmo (IRE), unplaced, hung right-handed, despite its riders best efforts, impeding Hot Scoop (GB), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The winner, Hey Mr (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Beverley on 16 May 2023 where the gelding finished seventh of eight, beaten by 5¼ lengths.
The representative of Paul Midgley could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form.
Hey Mr (GB) was routine tested.
Following the race, Oisin Murphy reported that Mehmo (IRE), unplaced, hung right-handed.
