- Stewards Report
Permission was given for Whatwouldyouknow (IRE) to go early to post.
Approaching the final furlong, Velvet Vision (GB), placed third, hung quickly left despite the rider’s best efforts, causing Star Of Valour (IRE), placed sixth, to be briefly tightened for room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of Velvet Vision (GB).
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final furlong when Velvet Vision (GB), placed third, ridden by John Egan interfered with Zorawar (FR), placed seventh, ridden by Daniel Tudhope.
Egan was cautioned for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to drift left, causing Tudhope to take a slight check.
An enquiry was held to consider the circumstances surrounding the sudden easing of Never Be Enough (GB), when in third place which subsequently finished eighth.
Tom Eaves, the representative of Keith Dalgleish and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed.
Eaves explained that he felt the filly had lost its action, but upon pulling up, it was evident that the hood had slipped and was covering Never Be Enough (GB)’s eyes.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Never Be Enough (GB) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The hood was inspected, and as it was found to not be in a serviceable condition, the trainer was fined £140.
