7 Ran
The fast early pace played into the hands of Big Zeb as he stayed on to lead before the last and grab the spoils.
Trainer Colm Murphy describes the gelding as "far from the finished article" and felt he wasn't quite getting home over longer trips.
A first fence faller on two occasions this season he was again a bit sticky early on.
He was ridden along in a moderate third three out but the front pair started to come back approaching the second last and he got on top running to the final fence.
Murphy believes the gelding will stay further in time and it will be interesting to see how he improves next season.
The winner was the one for money this morning (7/1 to 9/2) and was a solid 4/1 shot on course.
Thyne Again is another who wants further than the bare minimum and he was also staying on in the closing stages.
He never looked like pegging back the winner but kept on to grab the runner-up spot on the run-in.
A Grade 1 winner himself this season he also ran a fine race when fourth in the Arkle at Cheltenham and is another nice prospect for next season.
J'y Vole jumped out to make it but was harried by Perce Rock throughout and the pair appeared to cut each others throat.
They started to tire at the second last and had no more to offer at the final fence.
Wishwillow Lord, prominent early, soon elected to sit off the leaders.
He was a moderate fifth turning in and kept on at the one pace.
Lenrey, who fell here yesterday, was taken out as he was stiff and sore.
