D.E. Splaine, rider of Cloneen Choice trained by Don Browne, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up having hung left and made a respiratory noise during this race. A. Ring, rider of Rufino trained by P.J. Rothwell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount went wrong after the third last hurdle. C.D. Timmons, rider of Ard Cregg trained by V. T. O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up having jumped violently to the left and never travelled from thereon. The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Hugh Hynes, that Mr W.J. Gleeson, rider of Just Wait And See, had weighed in at 1.4lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he had weighed out correctly but a girth broke while his mount was being tacked up and the trainer had replaced it with a heavier girth. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Mr W.J. Gleeson was in breach of Rule 231 and consequently cautioned him .
