An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference shortly after turning in, when the winner, Habit Rouge (GB), ridden by Marco Ghiani, interfered with Society Red (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Tony Hamilton, which in turn interfered with United Front (USA), placed second, ridden by Josephine Gordon.
Considering where the incident took place in relation to the winning line and being satisfied that Habit Rouge (GB) always appeared to be holding United Front (USA), with a neck between both runners at the line, the Stewards ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
The interference was found to be accidental in that Habit Rouge (GB) moved sharply right-handed beyond Ghiani’s control, causing interference to both Society Red (GB) and United Front (USA) on its outside.
