- Stewards Report
Following concerns raised by the riders at the start regarding the low sun obscuring their vision at the flights in the home straight, the Stewards consulted with the Clerk of the Course and ordered that these obstacles should be by-passed for this race.
The winner, Buckeye Shan (IRE) appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Cartmel on 28 June 2019 where the gelding finished fifth of the thirteen runners, beaten by 56 lengths.
Peter Bowen’s representative’s explanation that the gelding may have appreciated the drop in class and the first time cheek-pieces on this occasion were noted.
Buckeye Shan (IRE) was routine tested.
The performance of Eric The Third (IRE) which started favourite and finished seventh, was considered.
Tim Vaughan could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance other than it ran flat.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
