7 Ran
The principals had both filled the runner-up spot on their debut and the experience stood to the well-backed pair as they dominated throughout.
Playdate (100/30-5/2), second at Dundalk last week, travelled well and, while Declan McDonogh needed to give her a few cracks inside the final furlong, he always looked confident of victory. It is always difficult to evaluate the merit of juvenile form at this early stage of the season but the front two did pull clear from over a furlong out.
Comadoir (9/10-8/11) disputed the lead with the benefit of the far rail but always looked likely to come off second best. He stuck to his task well under pressure in the final furlong.
Winter Haven and Chief Wild Cat, who was a bit slow away from stalls, kept on nicely inside the final furlong under hands and heels riding. The latter may be the one to progress most for the run.
Battimoore showed some early pace but appeared to stumble around halfway and became unbalanced, while Moleskin Joe was slowly away and always trailing the other six runners.
Non-runner, Granite Lad (passport)
