Prior to this race, Charlie Mann was asked to explain why he was running The Lion Dancer (IRE) here at Sedgefield on Good to Soft ground, having explained that the reason for his previous improvement in form at Chepstow on 5 February 2021 was that the gelding had appreciated the return to Heavy ground.
Mann stated that in his opinion the gelding does need very soft ground and declared for today’s race on Soft ground, but with a lack of current opportunities he was happy for the gelding to take its chance today.
