Permission was given for Agentleman (IRE) to go early to post and Mon Eldorado (FR) wore earplugs which were removed at the start.
The winner, Brave Spartacus (IRE), appeared to show improvement in form compared with its previous run at Southwell on 4 June 2019, where the gelding finished fourth of five, beaten 51 lengths.
Gillian Boanas explained that Brave Spartacus (IRE) had benefitted from a 33-day break and appreciated an easy lead on this occasion.
The gelding was routine tested.
The performance of Overtoujay (GB), which started second favourite and finished sixth of seven, was considered.
Charlie Todd explained that the gelding jumped poorly on a few occasions today.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Agentleman (IRE), placed fifth, lost its right fore shoe.
