The Gatekeeper (IRE) and Thunder Ball (GB) wore earplugs which were removed at the start.
Permission was given for Ouzo (GB) to go early to post wearing a red hood and be mounted on the chute.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final ½ furlong when the winner, Thunder Ball (GB), ridden by Mohammed Tabti, interfered with The Gatekeeper (IRE), placed second, ridden by Rossa Ryan.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Thunder Ball (GB)’s placing as the gelding made contact with The Gatekeeper (IRE) on two occasions, causing The Gatekeeper (IRE) to be shifted left-handed off its intended course with a diminishing nose between them at the line.
The Stewards revised the placings as follows: First – The Gatekeeper (IRE), Second – Thunder Ball (GB), Third – Ouzo (GB), Fourth – Escobar (IRE), Fifth – Sudden Ambush (GB).
Tabti was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift left-handed without sufficient correction bumping The Gatekeeper (IRE) twice.
Following the race, David Egan reported that Ouzo (GB), placed third, jumped awkwardly from the stalls.
