Permission was given for Glimpse Of Gold (GB) to go early to post and to be mounted on the course and for Mayhem Mya (GB) to wear a hood in the Parade Ring only.
Leaving the bend on the home straight, in the first circuit in tightly packed field, Small Bad Bob, placed third, shifted marginally left onto Mayhem Mya (GB), placed fourth, which moved Made For You (GB), which was pulled up, onto Carrigdoun Boy (IRE), which was pulled up and Kihavah (GB), which was pulled up.
This in turn caused Carrigdoun Boy (IRE) and Kihavah (GB) to be tight for room and Stimulating Song (GB), which was pulled up, caught on heels but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of any runner.
An enquiry was held to consider whether Mr Alex Chadwick, the rider of The Big Lense (IRE) which had become detached from 2 out, jumping the final hurdle with little momentum, making a bad blunder and coming to a standstill, before trotting to the line, had continued in the race when the horse appeared to be exhausted.
Being a 7Ib Claimer Mr Chadwick, was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
The rider was interviewed, and recordings of the incident were viewed.
The Veterinary Officer reported a post-race examination of The Big Lense (IRE) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider was suspended for 8 days, on dates to be notified to him by the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
An enquiry was held to consider the circumstances surrounding why there was a member of public on the inside running rail as horses were approaching during the race, after the second last hurdle on the first circuit.
The Clerk of the Course was interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
The Stewards noted his explanation, that the centre of the course is open to the public and all fence attendances are informed before racing, of all safety measures regarding their positions on course during racing and had undertaken to remind them of their responsibilities once again.
Following the race, Jack Quinlan reported that Nextdoortoalice (IRE), which was pulled up, made a bad mistake 3 out.
