L.P. Dempsey, rider of Double Seven trained by Martin Brassil, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled during this race and was pulled up. The Stewards requested a report from Gordon Elliott, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of A Toi Phil (FR), placed first, as compared with its recent run. Gordon Elliot reported that his charge had run in a Grade 1 race at Leopardstown on the 12th February where he was beaten at the second last fence and struggled home from that point whereas today he was dropped in class to a Grade 2 race.
