The Stewards received a report from Mr Ion Hamilton, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that Mr J.J. King, rider of Somethingwonderful, weighed in at 1.8 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he had taken a drink after weighing out and this may have accounted for the overweight on weighing-in. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Mr J.J. King was in breach of Rule 231 and having considered his record in this regard they therefore suspended him for two race days. Mr Peter Law, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry.

An extended handicap hurdle for four yrs old and upwards (130 = 11st 10lb)
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap shall not be less than 11st 10lb
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each hurdle race won. Any horse rated above 130 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 11st 10lb. Subsequently, the excess over 130 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. For the purpose of this note, any four year old rated above 130 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap
