Permission was given for Marsden Cross (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start.
The winner, Alerta Roja (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Beverley on 11 May 2021 where the filly finished fourth of seven, beaten by 20¼ lengths over 1 mile ½ furlong.
The representative of Sir Mark Prescott’s explanation that Alerta Roja (GB) had benefited from its first run of the year and had appreciated the step up in trip to 1 mile 4 furlongs was noted.
The filly was routine tested.
Following the race, Callum Shepherd reported that George Bancroft (GB), placed seventh, stumbled and lost its action approaching the 3 furlong marker and he therefore eased the gelding down in the closing stages.
