Owing to low-lying sun, the Stewards granted permission for fence six and fence eight to be omitted from this race. B.J. Geraghty, rider of Peoples Park trained by T.J. Taaffe, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount emptied three out. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Peoples Park, trained by T.J. Taaffe, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. Owing to ground conditions, the Stewards granted permission for fences three and seven to be omitted from all steeplechases at this meeting.

Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase 4lb extra; Of two steeplechases 7lb extra; Horses that have not run in two steeplechases (or have not run in three hurdle races) and/or do not have a published handicap steeplechase or hurdle rating may enter and run at the discretion of the handicapper provided their performances in steeplechases and/or hurdle races are rated 123 or less.
