He's a machine for his age. I had him in the Galway Blazers, but we bypassed that to come here. He's been a model of consistency. The rain came at the right time. If there had been no rain he wouldn't have run. He won the Pertemps qualifier at Leopardstown one year [in 2012] and missed going to Cheltenham by 3lbs and it was then we decided to go chasing with him. He'll run in the Kerry National if he gets in and the Paddy Power at Leopardstown over Christmas. If all goes to plan he'll have the Irish National as his long-term target.

The Stewards interviewed I.J. McCarthy, rider of Prince Rudi, concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(f) and 10.4, in that he used the whip with excessive frequency without giving his mount time to respond and having considered his record, suspended him for four race days.
