It was my own fault the last day in Roscommon as the ground was too quick. It was the wrong track and the wrong trip, it was a few furlongs too short for her but it sharpened her a bit for today. It definitely sharpened her out of the gates, she was a bit sluggish out of the gates in Ayr but she was sharp today so maybe it was a blessing in disguise that we ran her over seven in Roscommon just to teach her the job a bit. She was run off her feet in Roscommon but this is her kind of distance and a little bit of an ease in the ground. Hopefully she'll win another couple of these. She won't go to Galway, we'll let all the big lads go to Galway! We might go to Cork the week after Galway for a mile and a half race. That's my fourth winner overall, I've had two in Ireland and two in the UK. Adrian Paul Keatley, trainer
Gary Paul Halpin, rider of First Friday, trained by Paul Hennessy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount clipped heels and stumbled after the winning post on the first circuit when picking up the bit having lost ground. D. O'Brien, rider of Duarte Fernandes (USA), trained by A.P.O'Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was hanging to the right when he clipped heels and fell on the final bend. He also felt that the horse in front of him had been edging out slightly but in his opinion the fall was accidental and no fault of any other rider. C.J. Elliott, rider of Lastgirlstanding, trained by Shane Nolan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was unavoidably brought down by the faller Duarte Fernandes (USA). The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, W. Fleming, that L.P. Dempsey, rider of Stoichkhov, had weighed in at 1.8lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he had no difficulty in doing the weight but had a drink of water after weighing out. He showed his equipment to the Stewards which included a mounted saddle and a small lead cloth. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that L.P. Dempsey was in breach of Rule 231 and suspended him for 1 raceday. The Stewards requested a report from Adrian Paul Keatley, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Carraroe Flyer, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his charge won over 1 mile on soft ground at Ayr 9th June before returning to Hamilton to run on 18th June which he felt was too soon after the Ayr run. He added that the last day at Roscommon his charge was struggling over the 7 furlong trip in fast ground and today he upped his distance to 1mile 3 furlongs which allowed him to race at a gallop suitable to him. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
