Jumping the second last hurdle, the winner, G’DAY AUSSIE, lugged right-handed as Grand Enterprise (GB), placed second, edged left-handed causing The Knot Is Tied (IRE), placed sixth, to be hampered when tightened for racing room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of any horse.
The winner, G’DAY AUSSIE, appeared to show an improvement in form compared with its previous run at Fontwell on 14 September 2021, where the gelding finished sixth of nine, beaten 39 lengths on Good to Soft ground.
Dave Roberts explained that G’DAY AUSSIE appreciated returning to quicker ground conditions, officially described as Good on this occasion.
The gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Brian Hughes reported that THE RAVEN’S RETURN, unplaced, hung left throughout.
