An enquiry was held to consider interference leaving the back straight involving Wake Up Early (IRE), placed second, ridden by Lee Edwards and EDE’IFFS ELTON, placed fourth, ridden by Harry Kimber.
Edwards was cautioned for careless riding, as he had allowed his horse to drift slightly right-handed, which caused EDE’IFFS ELTON to become short of room for a few strides.
At the first fence, the winner, Switch Hitter (IRE), jumped left at the same time as Sam Barton (GB), which pulled up, jumped right, causing Sam Barton (GB) to be badly hampered and pull up.
But after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Switch Hitter (IRE).
Following the race, Lee Edwards reported that Wake Up Early (IRE), placed second, was hampered at the first fence and was outpaced thereafter.
