Hamish (GB) wore ear plugs which were removed at the start and was given permission to go early to post and be mounted on the chute.
Permission was also given to Nicholas T (GB) to go early to post.
An enquiry was held to consider interference entering the first bend when The Mediterranean (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Ryan Moore, interfered with Roberto Escobarr (IRE), unplaced, ridden by William Buick, who in turn interfered with Berkshire Rocco (FR), unplaced, ridden by Jason Watson, who in turn interfered with Hamish (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Tom Marquand.
Moore was suspended for 4 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to shift right-handed towards the rail when insufficiently clear causing Buick to be short of room and be shifted onto Watson who had to take a check on the rail, which in turn caused Marquand to take a check off heels and become unbalanced.
Shortly before entering the home straight, the winner, Trueshan (FR), and Tashkhan (IRE), placed second, made contact and became unbalanced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Trueshan (FR).
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that The Mediterranean (IRE), unplaced, had lost its right fore shoe.
