Approximately 3½ furlongs out, the winner, Inevitable Outcome (IRE), edged marginally left-handed causing Ballyare (GB), placed third, to lose its position when tightened for room on the rail, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Inevitable Outcome (IRE).
Tony Hamilton, the rider of Coase (GB), was interviewed regarding his riding from the end of the back straight having been slow into stride from the stalls leaving him at the rear of the field, before finishing evenly under a hands and heels ride to finish unplaced, beaten by 4¼ lengths.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider explained that, having missed the break, Coase (GB) could not initially lie up because of the strong early pace and, once he had managed to tag on to the rear of the field rounding the bend, he had to wait until the home straight and hope for a clear run.
He added that it was all happening a bit quickly for Coase (GB) in the home straight and after switching to the inside of Ballyare (GB), placed third, approaching the 1 furlong marker, which shifted right-handed in front of him, the gelding did not have enough pace to quicken up and improve its position, but even if it had, Coase (GB) would likely have been denied a clear run.
Hamilton confirmed he would be recommending a step up to 7 furlongs in future to the Trainer.
His explanation was noted.
Following the race, Luke Morris reported that El Hombre (GB), placed fifth, was denied a clear run approximately ½ furlong out; Hollie Doyle reported that Son And Sannie (IRE), unplaced, was never travelling; Adam McNamara reported that Some Nightmare (IRE), placed fourth, hung left in the home straight and Robert Winston reported that Vape (GB), placed sixth, was restless in the stalls.
Joe Fanning reported that Sands Of Time (GB), unplaced, stopped quickly and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post- race examination of the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities.
