An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, Hardy Angel (GB), ridden by Duran Fentiman and Speedacus (IRE), placed second, ridden by Daniel Tudhope.
After interviewing both riders and viewing recordings of the incident, the Stewards found that there had been interference between both horses but that it had been 50/50 and therefore ordered the placings to remained unaltered.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Hardy Angel (GB)’s placing as there had been minor contact several times between both horses in the final furlong which the Stewards found was equally apportionable, with the winning distance being a short head.
The interference was found to be accidental as both horses moved marginally off their lines, with the two riders taking reasonable measures to prevent interference from occurring.
Following the race, Dougie Costello reported that Honour Your Dreams (FR), placed fifth, ran too free and hung right-handed.
