- Stewards Report
Prior to this race, the representative of Archie Watson was asked to explain the reason why he was running Cotai Star (IRE) here at Chepstow on going described as Good, Good to Soft (in places) having reported that the gelding would prefer a quicker surface than Good following its run at Redcar on 30 May 2022.
The representative of the trainer’s explanation that after rain at Redcar they felt that the ground was deteriorating and having walked the course today at Chepstow was satisfied with the going on this occasion, was noted.
Michael Bell was cautioned as Bellstreet Bridie (GB), had arrived in the Parade Ring without its declared visor, which was then located and fitted to the filly before going to the start.
Harry Davies, the rider of BELLSTREET BIRDIE was unseated four furlongs out.
The rider and the trainer’s representative were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
It was found that no other horse or rider was involved, and that the incident was accidental and was caused by the horse rubbing its head in the stalls, shortly before the start was effected, which may have caused the visors to become displaced and in turn impeded the filly’s vision may have caused her to make contact with the rail and become unbalanced unseating Davies.
The visor was inspected by the Stewards and deemed to be in serviceable condition.
