13 Ran
Yet again the prominent contingent were at the fore near the finish and Silver Lily put up a very bold attempt at making all the running in the penultimate race on the card but she was wore down by Lady Roberto and the eventual winner Down By The Sea.
The winner was trained by Philip Fenton, given a good ride by Brian O'Connell and is owned and bred by Jerry Russell, father of leading jockey Davy.
Easy to back before hand (7/1-10/1), the winner raced in mid division throughout before making progress in the dying stages and the daughter of Fourstars Allstars held close home to deny Lady Roberto and Silver Lily.
Lady Roberto was undoubtedly favourite on the back of her runs behind Apt Approach and even Fair Ina but failed to build on that performance and had to settle for second spot.
It was an encouraging performance by Silver Lily who just appeared to lack a gear at the business end but connections can look forward to getting off the mark with this one. Corbertstown Star ran a similar to the winner without just picking up in the same manner but an encouraging racecourse debut all the same.
Annakissa was withdrawn injured by trainer Eoghan O'Grady.
