Permission was given for Divine Messenger (GB) to be mounted on the chute and for Al Salt (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start.
Emma Owen had obtained prior permission from the BHA to run Divine Messenger (GB) partially shod.
The winner, Plantadream (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Epsom on 4 July 2020 where the gelding finished twelfth of thirteen, beaten by 10 ¾ lengths.
John Best’s explanation that the gelding was better suited by the drop in trip from 1m 2f to 1m was noted.
Plantadream (GB) was routine tested.
The performance of Al Salt, which finished unplaced, was considered.
William Haggas’ explanation that the gelding was unsuited by the Good to Soft, Good in places, going and would prefer a faster surface was noted.
Following the race, James Doyle reported Nicklaus (GB), unplaced, jumped awkwardly and David Probert reported Grove Ferry (IRE), placed third, hung left-handed.
