Following the race, Oliver Sherwood reported that Shaughnessy (GB), which started favourite and was pulled up, was unsuited by the ground, which was officially described as Heavy on this occasion.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, during routine testing shortly after the race, revealed Shaughnessy (GB) to be suffering from atrial fibrillation.
