The Stewards received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer, Mr. A. Tyrell, that E. McNamara, trainer of Elusive John (Ire), had failed to lodge the passport on time as required. Having considered the report, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Elusive John(Ire) and fined the trainer ?350 under the provisions of Rule 90(ii). The Stewards enquired into an incident rounding the bend into the home straight involving Hailstone, ridden by K.J. Manning, placed third and Red Sabor (GB), ridden by D.P. McDonogh, unplaced, where it appeared Red Sabor (GB) ran short of room and was checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was accidental and took no further action .Mr. S.
