Eceparti (FR) wore earplugs which were removed at the start.
An enquiry was held into the apparent improvement in form of the winner, Tiquer (FR), ridden by Paddy Brennan and trained by Alan Jones, compared with its previous run at Newbury on 30 November 2019 where the gelding was pulled up on Good to Soft ground.
Jones was interviewed.
His explanation that Tiquer (FR) had been jarred up following its previous run and the gelding appreciated the slower ground, which was officially described as Heavy, Soft in places on this occasion, was noted, but Jones was fined £650 for failing to report this fact earlier, resulting in Tiquer (FR) being dropped 3lbs in the handicap.
Tiquer (FR) was routine tested.
Following the race, Jeremiah McGrath reported that Whatswrongwithyou (IRE), placed fifth, was never travelling and Hugh Nugent reported that Eceparti (FR), which started favourite and finished third, hung left-handed and jumped left-handed up the home straight.
