It was a good performance. We were waiting the whole time with him to get nice ground. I'm delighted for the owner (Vincent Byrne from Co. Offaly) because we have been chasing our tail with the horse for the last year trying to get him back into good form and they have had loads of patience. K.C. Sexton, rider of Benny In Milan trained by Peter Fahey, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was flat out throughout this race. N.P. Madden, rider of General Gold trained by Victor Wilson, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up having burst a blood vessel in running. A.E. Lynch, rider of Goldflinch trained by Sabrina J. Harty, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount changed legs in running and did not feel right. The Stewards requested a report from Peter Fahey, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Peregrine Run, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Peter Fahey reported that this was a weak quality of race which he felt that his charge was entitled to win on his best form. He added that he was a consistent horse when running in I.N.H.S Flat races with his best form gained on good ground. With reference to his most recent runs he stated that his yard had been under a cloud for some time but his horses appear to have regained their form in recent times. He further added that his charge did not race between January and May when reappearing to run disappointingly and since then he ran in a handicap hurdle before returning to maiden company today on his preferred good ground. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
