Sure Touch (GB) ran without its declared tongue strap as the trainer had been unable fit it to the gelding.
The sponsorship in relation to Rath Gaul Hill (IRE), trained by Samuel Drinkwater, did not comply with the Sponsorship Code of Conduct.
Drinkwater was warned as to his responsibility to ensure that the correct sponsorship is carried.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race following possible interference after jumping the final fence involving the winner, Sure Touch (GB), ridden by Dylan Johnston and DESQUE DE L’ISLE (FR), placed second, ridden by Ned Fox.
Being a 7Ib Claiming Conditional, Johnston was accompanied in the enquiry by a senior rider.
The Stewards heard evidence from both riders and viewed recordings of the incident, before establishing that shortly after jumping the final fence Sure Touch (GB) had edged slightly left- handed at the same time as DESQUE DE L’ISLE (FR) lugged marginally right-handed resulting in the pair making light contact.
Thereafter over the concluding stages, DESQUE DE L’ISLE (FR) became briefly short of room in the final strides when Sure Touch (GB) again edged slightly left-handed.
Taking into account the relatively minor nature of the interference suffered by DESQUE DE L’ISLE (FR) balanced against the head margin between them at the finish and the fact that Sure Touch (GB) always appeared to be holding DESQUE DE L’ISLE (FR) on the run in, the placings remained unaltered.
Both pieces of interference were found to be accidental.
