Permission was given for Hamish (GB) to be mounted in the chute and the gelding wore earplugs in the preliminaries which were removed upon arrival at the start.
Alounak (FR) arrived at the start with a small amount of blood in its mouth.
Having been examined by the Veterinary Officer, the colt was found to have bitten its tongue and was therefore deemed fit to race.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that both Elarqam (GB), which started second-favourite and finished unplaced, and Hamish (GB), placed fourth, lost their right-fore shoes.
Michael Bell reported that Eagles By Day (IRE), which finished last of the nine runners, may have been unsuited by the going, which was officially described as Soft, Good to Soft in places on this occasion and may prefer a faster surface.
