At the first hurdle, the free running Taqwaa (IRE), placed eighth, jumped right at the same time as Applesandpierres (IRE), placed fourth, jumped slightly left, causing Von Melas (IRE), which was later pulled up, to be checked.
However, after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of any horse.
Following the race, Robin Dickin reported that Phoebus Lescribaa (FR), which was pulled up, was unsuited by the Soft, Heavy in places ground on this occasion and would prefer less testing conditions.
