Preview tramore 19th Aug
Tramore's four-day meeting has been halved by the weather, but the second surviving card on Sunday features the Richard Power Private Clients Betting Handicap Hurdle, in which Paddy O Dee bids to complete a double.
Phillip Rothwell's gelding was a runaway winner over fences at the Galway Festival and looks well treated as he reverts to hurdles on a 22lb lower mark than his current chase rating.
Miradane is also looking to record back-to-back victories following a gritty success in the mud at Ballinrobe and, along with course and distance winner Royal Choice, will make sure Declan Bates' mount will need to be at the top of his game.
Claragh Native has been knocking hard on the door and few would begrudge him victory in the Heinz Pollmeier Memorial Handicap Chase, but Instant Impacked could prove the fly in the ointment if bouncing back from a lacklustre Killarney run.
The burden of top-weight may not be enough to halt Bill The Yank in the Noel Cummins Bookmakers Handicap Hurdle as Denis Quinn's seven-year-old was so impressive when scoring off a 12lb lower mark at Ballinrobe.
However, he faces stiff competition from Moving On, who has been running consistently well, and Preswell Lad who goes well at the track.
The Family Fun Day At Tramore Races Maiden Hurdle gets the action under way at 2.20 and Angles Hill is sure to be popular under Barry Geraghty following two good placed efforts, while the closing Tramore Amusement Park Mares Flat Race represents a good opportunity for the Willie Mullins-trained Dani Catalonia to get off the mark.
The Muine Beag handler also has strong claims in the 2012 Tramore Races Centenary Year Maiden Hurdle courtesy of Dysart Dancer, a bumper winner at Down Patrick on her return from a long layoff in May and now tackling obstacles for the first time.
