Preview killarney 19th Aug
The Owens McCarthy Claims Specialist Handicap Chase features on Killarney's seven-race evening card, with a host of recent winners lining up to take the decent prize on offer.
Hairy Molly and Streets Of Gold both come into this on the back of recent victories at Kilbeggan, while Schelm was successful at this venue when last seen over fences back in July.
That trio won't have things all their own way, however, with stiff competition expected to be provided from Decoy Daddy, a well-backed winner on the level at Tramore last week, and Manhattan Boy, who failed to fire in a valauble handicap hurdle at the Galway Festival last time but had been in good form over fences prior to that.
The action begins at 5.05 with the Kelly Foley & Co. In Association With Lloyd Fitzpatrick Accountants 3-Y-O Hurdle, where Wijikura seems sure to prove very popular following an impressive jumping debut success.
Only modest on the Flat, hurdling appears set to suit much better, although Tramore runner-up Todd's Forge should ensure he has to work hard for a second success.
The Lakehotel.com Handicap Hurdle offers another decent pot and Tony Mullins' rapidly improving Impersonator will be strongly fancied despite having incurred a 9lb rise for his recent Galway success.
Novel Investment is another in-form contender with claims, along with Your Busy and the Barry Geraghty-ridden Gallery Man.
Geraghty looks to hold yet another leading chance on board Casey Top in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Novice Hurdle.
The seven-year-old is returning to this track following an easy C & D success last month.
The Killarney Oaks Hotel Beginners Chase looks one worth to watch, while a similar comment applies to the closing Cronin's Foodstore Cork Road Killarney INH Flat Race, in which Willie Mullins takes the wraps off Blackstairmountain's half-brother Allure Of Illusion.
