The juveniles stole the show at Cork on Friday with Sioux Nation and Yolo Star both registering maiden successes.
Sioux Nation (2-11 fav) was the first to get off the mark, potentially booking his ticket to Royal Ascot with an impressive victory in the opening Irish Stallions Farms EBF Maiden.
The son of Scat Daddy had shown up well in two previous starts and was much the best of these, travelling sweetly in the slipstream of the leaders before powering clear inside the final furlong.< Yulong Warrior gave gallant chase late on but was three and three quarters lengths in arrears at the finish.
Yolo Star had to much work much harder for her victory in the Irish Stallions Farms EBF Fillies Maiden, Johnny Murtagh's filly clinging on by a head.
Quickly away from the gates, the 11-4 chance certainly knew her job and looked set to win comfortably until Damselfly produced a rattling late run which might well have been successful in a few more strides.
Following the earlier success of Sioux Nation, trainer Aidan O'Brien doubled his tally on the night when Venezuela took the Buy Online @ corkracecourse.ie Maiden by two lengths.
Despite still looking green, the 7-4 favourite always had Moritzburg in his sights and was good value for the winning margin.
The Mallow Town Summer BBQ Evening July 14th Handicap looked a competitive race on paper but was won handsomely by Patuano (10-1).
The handicap debutant was always going well in the front rank and readily kicked a length and a half clear of Ice Cold In Alex in the closing stages.< Blue Bounty bounced back to form when coming out on top in the Cork Racecourse Apprentice Handicap while Hillcrest Fire (11-4) came through in good style to take the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Fillies Maiden by three and three quarter lengths.
