Westerner Point dug deep in the closing stages to run out a game winner of the featured Arctic Tack Stud Veterans Handicap Chase at Wexford this afternoon.
Eoghan O'Grady 's charge was recording back-to-back successes having scored at Limerick over Christmas.
The 5/1 shot jumped up to join front-runner Kylecrue three from home and was driven into the lead at the penultimate fence. Goulane Chosen soon emerged as a big danger and strongly pressed Westerner Point on the run-in but Philip Enright kept his mount going to gain a half length success.
The winner was remarkably recording his third St Patrick's Day win at Wexford, having also scored at the track in 2015 and 2016.
"We are delighted with him. That's eleven races now, the lads are having savage fun with him,” said O'Grady.
“He might go back over hurdles now or he could go for the Topham at Aintree. He has a nice hurdles rating. We will see how he is in the morning."
Unfortunately Kylecrue suffered a fatal injury after a mistake at the second last.
