Trainer Dermot Weld and stable jockey Chris Hayes combined for a 170/1 double at Clonmel today, bagging their third winner together in 24 hours with Serafina s success in the Racing Next On 29th September Handicap.
A €55,000 yearling purchase by Weld's Springbank Way Stud, the Profitable filly today scored in first-time blinkers when readily defeating Sioux Princess by two and a quarter lengths.
Weld and Hayes won today's opener by that same margin with Silent Prayer having also combined to win with Moyglare Stud's Touching Clouds at Gowran yesterday.
Hayes was completing consecutive daily doubles and reported “she (Serafina) works far better than she’s been running and I’ve often come in and had no reason why she didn’t back up her work.
“The boss has freshened her up and he said to me the way she went around Tramore dropping her back in trip here and the way the filly in the first did it the best place to be was up in the first two.
“She seemed to enjoy it and she stayed at it well.”
