The concluding W&T Directors Bumper at Tramore today was won by the Michael McCullagh trained Vickie tragically carrying the colours of the executors of the late George Rothwell's will.
Rothwell's sister Hilda Jordan was on hand to greet Vickie into the winner's enclosure at Tramore today and briefly mentioned “that was some surprise I didn't expect it in my wildest dreams.”
Vickie, a daughter of Old Vic, had little to recommend her from her first two runs, was returned a 25/1 chance before staying on well to hold the challenge of Good As Gold on the run-in.
Winning jockey Shane McCullagh, son of the winning trainer, was recording his second racecourse winner, having also had 12 point to point succeses.
Vickie was the third big priced winner at Tramore today, following on from earlier 10/1 and 50/1 winners.
