- Ultra grinds out back-to-back wins
Ultra grinds out back-to-back wins
The decision to turn Ultra Cool out quickly again reaped dividends when she landed the Glenvale Stud Handicap at Tipperary.
Adrian McGuinness' charge had scored in good style at Roscommon on Monday and showed no ill-effects as she followed up under a 5lb penalty.
Johnny Murtagh 's mount had to work harder today though as she ground out a length-and-a-quarter victory over Cornakill
The daughter of One Cool Cat came under pressure turning in but stuck on well to challenge at the furlong pole and get her head in front inside the final furlong.
McGuinness' nephew and assistant, Stephen Thorne, was on duty with the trainer at a pony show in Wexford for the weekend:-
"We're delighted with the horses. They are in great form and we had another winner at Bellewstown last night.
"Johnny said 1m2f is probably her trip. We just got away with the ground as they watered last night and it was lovely ground.
"It's great to have Johnny on board as you don't have to tell him what to do."
