The J.P. McManus owned, Joseph O'Brien trained Uisce Beatha (12/1) came from well off the pace before winning the John Lynch Memorial EBF Beginners Chase at Fairyhouse today, under jockey J.J. Slevin.
The son of Yeats had plenty to do turning into the home straight but quickened well from the second last fence and in the end moved past leader Impact Factor on the run-in before scoring a two lengths win over that rival.
McManus' racing manager Frank Berry later said “he was sticky enough for the first mile but he warmed up to it.
“He came home well and liked the ground. He finished off the race well.
“He's not the scopiest but he's getting the hang of things. We'll find a little handicap for him down the road.”
