Twin joy for O'Brien
Carrigtwohill trainer Terence O'Brien, whose wife Audrey gave birth to twins (boy and a girl) earlier today, had further reason to celebrate when Viaduct Bud took division one of the Clonmel Hospice Support Group Handicap Hurdle.
The 10/1 chance headed the front-running Banian after the second last, and kept on well for Tom Doyle to beat Inter Mutanda (11/2) by three lengths with Banian (20/1) keeping on another head away in third.
Terence O'Brien was represented by Niall Healy, who said: “Today was the plan. The ground was too soft at Wexford the last day. He needs good ground and won a point-to-point at Dawstown around this time last year. He'll go to Killarney next.”
