- Three-up for Bolger at local track
Three-up for Bolger at local track
If Jim Bolger supporters thought it couldn't get any better after the successes of Majestic Dancer and Duaiseoir they were wrong, as Book Of Number with Davy Moran up (the other two were ridden by Kevin Manning) landed the Watree Handicap to justify 5/2 favouritism.
A winner at Wexford six days ago and racing with just a mandatory 5Ib penalty (he got 11Ibs for Wexford), the American-bred was one of the slower ones away from the gate but he arrived there travelling well two furlongs out and try as he might, top-weight Monteriggioni couldn't get there, being a neck down at the line.
Bolger said of his wife, Jackie's winner: "He is heading in the right direction and he could go to the Curragh on Guineas weekend. He would also be a July Sales candidate."
Those who combined Majestic Dancer, Duaiseoir and Book Of Numbers in trebles were rewarded at odds of 55/1.
