The Big Doyen was impressive in routing his four rivals in Punchestown's bumper.

The 11/4 chanced raced third in the early stages as Cool Survivor led from Recognize

He tanked into the lead three furlongs from home and stretched away racing to the final furlong with Barry O'Neill enjoying an armchair ride.

He came in by a whopping 16 lengths from 8/11 favourite Cool Survivor.

Peter Fahey said: “I came here full of confidence. We had him in at Cheltenham and we were considering going over there for the bumper today but the bit of rain came during the week and we decided to run here.

“His first run was good when he was green enough and I think he’s progressed a lot at home. He’d matured and was thriving as we were going along. He’s a nice horse.

“He’s a horse that will be a lot better on deeper ground.

“The owners are from Athy and there is about ten or 15 involved. It’s great for them.

“He won’t run again until Cheltenham. He’s a horse that is going to progress with time.”
