The Willie Mullins-trained Spread Boss Ted landed the odds in the novice hurdle at Fairyhouse with a workmanlike performance.
The 2/5 shot was held up by Paul Townend in the four-runner contest over two-miles-three before moving up stylishly to challenge two from home.
He was asked to go on down to the final flight but got under the last and had to be kept up to his work on the run-in to post a three-and-a-half length win over front-runner Glen Kiln
The winner was adding to his maiden hurdle success at Navan last month.
Townend said:- “I went out to settle him and thought I was after doing too good of a job at halfway!
“When I asked him to close up he closed up quickly and he was probably going to win impressively when he missed the last. It’s hard to get going again on that ground.
“It definitely helped the way he relaxed and he’d appreciate easier ground to get through. He’ll handle winter ground but that is an extreme as it’s so holding.
“If he settles like that he could go out further in trip.”
